How do gift reservations work?

How it works

You need a verified WANTELIO account and any required security checks. Each active wish can have one reservation. Owners and members of a list cannot reserve gifts in that list. Open the shared link, sign in and choose Reserve as a gift. Buy the product yourself in an external store. Use Cancel my reservation if you change your mind; you cannot cancel somebody else's reservation.

Surprise mode is on by default. The server hides reservation statuses from the owner and members. Other gift givers see availability, never the giver's identity. Turning Surprise mode off reveals statuses, not identities. It cannot hide information from another account belonging to the recipient or from outside conversations.

A reservation is not a purchase, order or money transfer. My reservations lets you review gifts, mark them as bought or cancel. Marking bought is your manual confirmation and does not change the owner's wish status.

The title, price and variant are captured when reserving. If the wish changes or is removed, a warning appears: check before buying. Removing a wish makes it unavailable; restoring it does not restore the reservation automatically. Revoking a link prevents new reservations, but you can still cancel your own existing reservation.
